The Secret by Rhonda Byrne introduced many motivational and inspirational teachers who were able to go inside and beyond The Secret Law of Attraction.
Jack Canfield is probably best known for his co-authorship of the best-selling book series Chicken Soup for the Soul which has been produced in 39 languages and sold over 100 million copies. He is one of the most celebrated and renowned success trainers in the world.
A lot of people feel like there are no options … I think it is a great wake up call for society to see how many people really are in that situation
Jack Canfield
If you don’t have his book, The Success Principles, I suggest you buy it now. It expands extensively The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. This is what I wrote when I reviewed his book on Amazon: This book builds on the basic ideas introduced in The Secret and lays down sound principles and blueprints for creating happiness and success in life.
It concentrates on the idea of knowing where you are (which of us did?), an essential prerequisite before deciding where you want to be. It shows you step by step how to get to where you want to be, and stresses the need to follow the principles laid down rather than just sitting back and expecting it all to fall into your lap. It makes you think. It makes the energy flow. It undoubtedly leads to success.
You won’t be surprised to learn that Jack has already gone beyond the law of attraction in his own life and consults for major corporations and groups, and has appeared on Oprah, Fox & Friends and CNN and many other television shows. His results are a true manifestation of the Secret by Rhonda Byrne.
He believes, as I do, that success or
money really amplifies who you are. So if you are basically an idiot
who makes a lot of money, you really become just a bigger idiot. We can
all give evidence about people we know like that.
Jack believes, with good cause, that he has managed to avoid that by working on himself before he was successful and taking lots of seminars. He cleared out as much of his ego and self-defeating behaviours as he could.
Jack Canfield believes you should have a driving vision or purpose that makes you want to get up in the morning. For Jack it has been about empowering other people to live their dreams and then teaching other people how to teach that to others.
One of his big initiatives is educating educators: that is to say, teachers, and showing them how to teach children to believe in themselves because there is so much low self-esteem in the world.
In common with The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, in Jack’s seminars he teaches you that you deserve to have anything that the universe has to offer as long as you don’t hurt other people in the process of achieving it.
It is an abundant universe and there is
enough for everybody. He believes that it needs to be distributed more
evenly, and the reason people hoard is because they do not believe there
is enough. We have plenty of everything that is really important.
The important thing, says Jack, is not things but love: the ability to express your creativity, the opportunity to both give and receive love, to feel confident, to make a difference in the world. That does not cost money but, by the way, there are plenty of material things to go around as well.
Most people don’t understand how powerful their minds are and that they are already manifesting exactly what they are focusing on. This is one of those things that emerges pretty clearly from The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Jack Canfield tells his students if you want to know what you are thinking, look at what you are creating around you.
What you thought in the past is creating
your current reality. If you want your future to be different, you have
to create different thoughts because what you are currently doing will
only produce what you are currently getting.
Most people don’t realise that. They keep recreating the same reality over and over and they think they are stuck.
If
you maintain the same thoughts and imagery, you are not going to change
easily. We are basically habit-driven and we get to be so habitual
that it takes a coach or a book or a programme of training to break
people out of that.
That helps to bring them to deeper levels of consciousness where they can expose themselves to deeper creativity and develop a better life with less effort.
One of the great things about Jack Canfield’s seminars is that they manage to get people to focus on what they want after they leave. Jack believes one of the reasons is because they provide people with a mastermind group, or set of accountability partners. He teaches people to create and maintain a support system to keep them focused on their goals.
He also teaches them a set of habits that
he expects them to do for a minimum of 40 days because research shows
that if you keep something going for 40 days, you are more than likely
to keep it going. Everyone leaves with an asset of affirmations which
the put on 3 x 5 cards or on their screen saver and they have to read
them every day. They are asked to do that for a whole year.
Jack also recommends that people hire a coach. because a lot of people can relate to going to a seminar and getting some sort of training, but a month later it is like they were never there. Once you get a breakthrough you need to sustain it with a coach. (You might like to read about Life Coaching on this site).
The fundamental principle - which is an echo from The Secret by Rhonda Byrne - is personal responsibility. The first chapter of The Success Principles concentrates on responsibility. Firstly, you need to be aware that you are responsible because if you are not you cannot take responsibility.
You need to become aware of the universal
laws and universal principles that have been codified in religion,
psychology and NLP – all the different practices that exist in the
world. Study them, learn from them and act according to them.
If, for example, you save 10 per cent of every dollar you make or are given, you cannot help ending up wealthy. That is something that is worth learning when you are young.
You should also concentrate, says Jack, on the law of probability. The more thing you try, the more likely it is that one of them will work. The more books you read, the more likely it is that one of them will change your life. The idea of abundant research, abundant exposure to new ideas will increase the probability that something will happen that is good.
There is probably more to The Secret by
Rhonda Byrne than strikes you at first, but if you take on board all
that is said by Jack Canfield, your goal will come closer until it is
within your grasp.
